Friedrich Heydendahl was born in 1844. He studied landscape painting at the Düsseldorf School and also attended the local art school. His teachers were Wintergerst, Soane and Wiegmann.
It was in Düsseldorf that he worked almost all his life, with the exception of the period from 1879 to 1883, which he spent in London.
His son also became an artist and graduated from the art academy in Düsseldorf. Many of the landscape painter’s works are kept in private collections. Online sale of Friedrich Heydendahl’s works is open at the Rios Art Gallery.
