Oswald Lääne (1913-1990)

Lääne Oswald (1913-1990). Still Life. (1960)

Oswald Lääne is one of the most underrated Estonian artists. Like many Tallinn painters, he graduated from the famous Pallas school.
Born in the small village of Päde, in 1914 he moved with his parents to the Piibe manor, and then to the Vaimastvere Town Hall. After graduating from Pallas, many of his works were accepted into museums and private collections. But due to perfectionism and strict demands on himself, Oswald Lääne did not become a productive artist.
