During his career on the basis of the Atlantic fishing fleet, P. Aavik reached the coast of Africa. The ship “Paranu” was not given a “city ticket” for sailors, therefore, among the artist’s numerous traveling paintings, there are only 4 African motifs. These exotic motifs were quite rare in Estonian art of the time.
Priidu Aavik initial art education has received in A.Lajkmaa’s studio. With 1934-1938 studied at Art School “Pallas”, in N.Triik ‘s studio. Since 1940 is engaged in teaching activity.
It was improved in 1939 in Paris. Since 1938 a member of Art society “Pallas”. With 1944 -1945- director at Tartu Art Institute. Since 1947 -1948 in Tallinn the chairman of Art fund.
