The Faroe Islands (belonging to Denmark) in the North Atlantic Ocean stood in the way of the Estonian fishing fleet during the long fishing expeditions in which P. Aavik took part several times in the 1960s. The artist brought home paintings and drawings that constitute an entire chapter both in his own work and in Estonian art of the 1960s.
The painter saw good tools in the felt-tip pen for creating compositional designs, which can also be considered as independent works.
Priidu Aavik initial art education has received in A.Lajkmaa’s studio. With 1934-1938 studied at Art School “Pallas”, in N.Triik ‘s studio. Since 1940 is engaged in teaching activity.
It was improved in 1939 in Paris. Since 1938 a member of Art society “Pallas”. With 1944 -1945- director at Tartu Art Institute. Since 1947 -1948 in Tallinn the chairman of Art fund.
