Graphic artist. In 1935–1941 studied at the State School of Art and Industry, in 1940–41 at the Tartu State School of Applied Arts Jaan Koort (Pallas), 1941–43 at the Tallinn School of Fine and Applied Arts. Since 1947 he has been a member of the Union of Artists. Avo Keerend is one of the most prominent and prolific Estonian graphic artists. Early work is characterized by an academic approach to nature and the use of engraving techniques. Since 1957, he began to cultivate the technique of engraving on linoleum. In the early 1960s, Avo Keerend began creating geometric-constructive compositions.
