Graphic artist Viive Kuks was born in Tallinn in 1951. Received her initial art education at the Tallinn Technical School of Light Industry with a degree in Artistic Design of Fabrics, from 1966 to 1970. In the same year, Kuks began studying graphics at Tallinn University of the Arts, where her main teacher was Evald Okas. In 1976 she graduated as a freelancer and moved to Võru. Viive Kuks is a member of the Union of Artists since 1984. She began to participate in exhibitions since 1977. The theme of Viive Kuks’s works is nature and man (portraits), the artist created large-scale, detailed, realistic landscapes. In addition to graphic works (etching, drypoint), the artist also used pastels, watercolors and oil paintings.
