Graduated from the State Art Industrial School in 1934. R.Nyman and A. Jansen were his teachers. Continued to study in Helsinki from 1936 to 1939 under W.Lonnberg. Agu Pihelga had been teaching at the Estonian State Art Institute from 1946 to 1980, as assistant professor since 1961. Agu Pihelga was attracted to the impressionist style in his landscapes and cityscapes. One can finds works of Agu Pihelga in the Russian Museum in St.Petersburg and the State Art Museum of Kyrghyzstan in Bishkek.
