This striking oil on canvas painting by August Pulst, titled “Railway Station in Viljandi” and created in 1976, measures 50.2 x 60 cm. Signed “Pulst 1976” in the lower right, and inscribed “Aug. Pulst. Viljandi raudteejaam. Õli, lõuend 1976” on the reverse. August Pulst was a renowned Estonian artist, educated in Riga Art School under the tutelage of V. Purvitis, V. Tillbergs, and B. Borchert. He worked in theatre, folklore collection, and founded several Estonian museums. His works are known for their landscapes, flowers, and views of old town, often bearing an ethnographical touch. This particular piece beautifully captures the essence of the Viljandi railway station, reflecting Pulst’s signature style.
