Graduated from the “Pallas” Art School in Tartu as pupil of N. Triik, K. Mägi, A.Vabbe. Professor of the State Art Institute in Tartu from 1946 to 1950. Portrait was the main genre of his expressive art; he made stress on the intelligence, dignity and personality as well as on the hidden anxiety of his models.
