Upper left – Julius Simmondes 1921
Julius Simmonds was born in Pyrmont – died in Hamburg. German painter, famous for his still lifes and portrait painters.
Simmonds attended the Art School of the Grand Duke of Saxony in Weimar from 1863 to 1867, where he was taught by Arthur von Ramberg and Bernhard Plohorst. Then he entered the Düsseldorf Art Academy. In Dusseldorf. Simmonds was a member of the Malkasten Artists’ Association. After his studies he settled in Hamburg. There he exhibited regularly, notably at the 1832 Hamburg Artists’ Association, of which he was a member, and at the Art Museum.
