Olev Soans has ended the State Art Institute of Estonia in 1951, since 1961 taught, in the same place, in 1979 has received a rank of the senior lecturer, in 1987 of the professor.

Olev Soans was one of the most outstanding Estonian graphic artists of the 1950s. Since 1975, he created many maps on the history of Estonia using etching techniques. In 1985, received a prize to them. Kristian Raud.
